Betanzos, Departamento de Potosí, Bolivia / Agriculture

Maribel's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming supplies.

Maribel's story

Maribel is single. She is 21 years old and lives in the town of Betanzos in the department of Potosi-Bolivia.

Maribel lives in her own house on her farmland, which she inherited from her parents, as is the custom in the area. Maribel has been a farmer for over five years, a trade she learned from her parents.

For the past two years, Maribel has worked independently, making a living by growing potatoes and broad beans. She has four hectares of farmland, two hectares of which has potatoes with irrigation systems and two hectares of which has broad beans. Maribel works six days a week: five growing her produce and one selling her produce at the local market.

The advantage Maribel enjoys is that she inherited her parents' clientele, and they look for her to buy her produce in bulk.

This is the first loan that she is requesting from the Sartawi Foundation, which she will use to purchase seeds and manure to start the next season.

Maribel is taking care of her parents due to their advanced age. She dreams of paying back her parents a little for what they have taught her, in addition to refurbishing her house.
