Total loan: $9,000
Humacao, PR, Puerto Rico / Agriculture
Angel's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped me build our commercial agricultural aquaponics business for the livelihood of my family and to increase the production of our organic products.
I was born in a neighborhood called Mariana in the town of Humacao on the island of Puerto Rico. Agriculture was the way of life in our house and my grandparents cultivated their land. This awakened in me a great desire to learn how to farm & cultivate. At the moment, I am a professor of agriculture at the San Antonio Abad College in Puerto Rico. That's where I have applied the aquaponics workshop for 5 years now. My dream is to be able to apply and develop the business so that my children also have the opportunity to work in it if they wish to. As part of this project I would also like to have an indoors cultivating facility that I can use to develop an educational tourism program for future generations to learn about this subject. One of my entrepreneurial anecdotes is in 2003 we developed a tourist aquarium in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, which is the country’s capital. This was an aquarium for recreational educational purposes that attracted many schools and tourists for 3 years. This project was one of my many successes and greatest experiences, and in this I worked as a marine biologist.
