Fatima's story

Fatima is a 25-year-old woman who lives with her spouse in the area of Multan, Pakistan. She is a mother of four children. Her husband is responsible for fulfilling the needs of the entire family, but Fatima has been running an embroidery business for one year to meet other expenses. Her native language is Punjabi, which she speaks with her family, and she speaks Urdu culturally and for her business. They live in a rented room, made of brick, that has drinking water, electricity, and plumbing.

Her embroidery business is very famous in the area, and that is the reason her business runs well. Due to good relationships, her business has increased. Fatima wants to meet the demand for bridal dresses. That is why she wants to buy thread, fancy cloth, sequins, and pearls of various colors in advance, to have in stock. She requires some capital to buy the desired items, but she does not have sufficient cash on hand. The challenge Fatima is facing is to have sufficient capital to run the business and support her family.

Therefore, Fatima humbly requested a loan from BRAC Pakistan. With this loan, she will be able to buy the thread, fancy cloth, sequins, and pearls of various colors that she needs. Fatima and her family will be thankful to Kiva, its lenders, and field partner BRAC Pakistan for helping them by funding this loan to improve their living standard.
