Dorothy's Group's story

Pictured above is Dorothy, who is often described as an extremely hardworking individual. She is 42 years old and has 5 children. As a group leader, she is representing her group of 10 farmers in Mumias District, Kenya.

Dorothy is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again, because this means that she will be able to get the best-quality fertilizer and hybrid seed, which is why she decided to join in the first place. Dorothy says that she is happy to have made that decision, because she has been able to feed her family consistently since she joined One Acre in 2015. This has improved her day-to-day life significantly. Dorothy will use the profits from this season to send her children to school.

The group will use this loan to purchase enough seed and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.75 acres. Some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light with this loan; the group will receive a total of 2 solar lights.
