Las Cenicientas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy yarn, some pigs and goats.

Las Cenicientas Group's story

In the high mountains of the Department of Quiché, Guatemala, seven Maya Ixil women created the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank "Las Cenicientas". They have third grade education, but that has not prevented them from developing businesses, which include manufacturing of traditional textiles, selling fruits, and animal husbandry (cows, pigs, chickens, goats). The women are requesting a Kiva loan to invest new capital to build their businesses.

The group's president is 35-year-old Cecilia. She attended primary school for three years. Cecilia has two businesses: weaving traditional garments and raising animals. The requested loan will allow her to buy yarn, some pigs and goats. Thanks to her profits, she can provide a complete education to her three children (aged 10-15).

Cecilia and her friends attend monthly meetings where they make loan payments and then participate in relevant educational training. The "Microcredit Plus" program combines loans, educational sessions, and health care services. The women immediately apply what they learn to their lives to implement effective business practices, good health habits, nutrition and self-esteem.

Kiva investors are important to Cecilia and the other women who want to achieve brighter futures. Thank you for your generous support!!!
