Doris's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to help a single mom buy certified seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers to expand her crop farm, generate more revenue and educate her children.

Doris's story

Doris (a single mom) is focused on her farm and is very keen to parent her angelic children. She is a rural smallholder farmer and a mother who learned her knowledge for farming from her parents. She is determined to pass on this knowledge to her village counterparts in the Nkubu area of Kenya. The results of her determination are the smiling faces of her children when they wake up early every day. Through experience gained by her curiosity and natural abilities, Doris has emerged as one of the most respected farmers in her village.

Today, Doris is seeking a loan of 100,000 KES, which she will use to buy certified seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers to expand her crop farm.

Unlike most microfinance services in Kenya that have imposed complicated procedures that discourage smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition easy and convenient.

By scaling up her business, to be achieved through lenders’ help and goodwill, Doris will reduce production costs and increase her output. Doris believes that through the loan, she will turn her family life around and be able to give them a happier lifestyle.

This mom is worth supporting, and she will not disappoint.
