Abimael Hazel's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for his programming education to secure a career path in Mexico as a returned migrant from the US.

Abimael Hazel's story

Abimael is a 25-year old returned migrant who was born in Estado de Mexico but lived most of his life in Florida. Abi signed a “voluntary departure” from the United States around two years ago. While he had to leave his family behind, Abi was convinced that there would be better education available for him here in Mexico.

Abi joined the Hola course, which is a programming bootcamp and social enterprise aiming at refugees, deported and returned migrants from the US. The course teaches computer coding and aims to secure a career path in the tech sector. For Abi, this means access to a well-paid job market, unlike the underpaid work there would otherwise be available for him and others in his situation.

At this moment, Abi is looking for a loan to pay for his Hola tuition. This loan is used to pay forward the education for a new student until he lands a job in the tech sector. Hola’s education made Abi’s future perspective change dramatically, increasing his monthly income x3.
