Kristell's story

I am a native Vincentian. St. Vincent is a small Caribbean Island in the West Indies. From growing up on an island, I have always had access to fresh produce and natural healing methods and remedies. I use traditions and methods that my ancestors passed on to me. When I migrated from St. Vincent to Brooklyn, New York, I was unsure about how I would adjust to this busy city. I found peace by working in my kitchen. I have always enjoyed cooking and using homemade recipes that my mom taught me as a kid. When I was about 13 years old, my grandmother started a company that made natural skin and hair products in the downstairs of our home. Her products included shampoos, conditioners and soaps. I always admired her craft, never realizing that I would someday have a passion for making products of my own in my kitchen. With a combination of my mom and grandmothers lessons being utilized, I feel most creative in the kitchen. I am always combining ingredients. Sometimes I combine them to create a dish that nourishes the soul or making body products that moisturize the human body’s largest organ; skin. Throughout the process of building this brand I have gravitated towards holistic and spiritual growth. I enjoy creating medicine using natural herbs and this made me realize that i would like to one day become a certified herbalist in the near future. Currently i am studying to become a Reiki practitioner. These certifications would add tremendous value to my brand, StrippedEgo.
