Mercy's story

Honesty, perseverance and responsibility are the character traits that the woman presented here portrays. On her small piece of land which is in the area of Sotik, Mercy practices mixed farming. She started farming with the hopes of changing her life, and yes, she has. She was able to send her children to school through farming. She was also able to acquire some income-generating assets like her cows, which are good milk producers.

Mercy loves farming for various reasons, some of which include unexpected profits, independence, and easy decision making. She likes to utilize her farm to obtain maximum gains. Farming has equipped Mercy with the skills of a businesswoman. At times when she has no produce of her own, she buys crops from her neighbors at cheaper prices and sells them at a profit in her local market. Mercy has realized that there is a big demand for cereals.

Mercy requested this loan to buy cereals from neighboring farmers and sell them at her local market to make incremental profits. She will use the profits she gains to invest in her children's education. Mercy thanks the kind Kiva lenders for their intervention.
