Faida Group's story
Tirla is a customer of the micro-finance institution Hekima [Kiva's partner in DRC], she is a knitting artist. She knits baby clothes. Her customers are pregnant women and medical facilities which have early childhood care units. She is forty two years old, a widow and the mother of three children who all go to school. She is the leader of the Faida Group. She started her business thanks to her family's financial support right after her husband's death. She has been running this business for sixteen years. She joined Hekima's loan program in early 2013 to strengthen her financial capital. With this new loan, she is planning to buy five dozens of sewing threads and other materials to knit in order to expand her business. She would like to modernize her activity, to abandon her manual ways to move towards new technologies. Moreover, she would like to ensure her children's schooling and to build a house for them. Lastly, she thanks Hekima and their partners for the support they provide to non-bankable entrepreneurs. Thanks to these loans, she is able to take care of her family.
