Fe Y Amor 5 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase raw ingredients for her business of food and sweets to sustain her family.

Fe Y Amor 5 Group's story

María is a hardworking woman. She has 4 children and lives in a "batey" of Romana, a province in the Dominican Republic. "Bateys" are communities of workers that live surrounding the sugar cane fields, and the majority of their families are poor.

It is there that María, alongside her family, develops and grows. She has a post where she sells sweets from her home, and during the sugar harvest when the cane is cut, she sells food to workers in the fields. Her husband works in sugar cane. She transports the food in a vehicle that they have in their home. This is a service that is well seen in the community. These days, everyone in the batey is decorating for Christmas.

María attended school through sixth grade. She has two children who have finished with their studies and she hopes to send them to the university. The smallest two are still in school. María dreams of someday having a restaurant and a plot of land for her house.

She is the coordinator of the group Fe y Amor, which has been with Esperanza since 2007. María, with views of reaching her dreams, is requesting this loan to stock her business and support her home.

The group Fe y Amor 5 thanks you all for the support of microentrepreneurs in pursuing their dreams.
