Nuevo Futuro (Portoviejo) Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase dairy products, soft drinks, water, prepared juices, oils, disinfectants, etc.

Nuevo Futuro (Portoviejo) Group's story

The city of Portoviejo was affected by the earthquake of April 16, 2016. The city is rich in the production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruit for domestic consumption.

The loan group is made up of 12 members, of whom 11 are women and 1 is a man. They meet every two weeks in the house of one of the members.

Odalys, 20 years old, is the secretary of the loan group, is in a common-law marriage, and has a 4-month-old child. Her spouse is a truck driver. They live in her in-laws' house.

Odalys and her mother have a small grocery store, which they have had for some 5 years, where they sell a great variety of products such as rice, sugar, oil, lard, detergents, dairy products, etc. Her work schedule is from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm. Now her mother is helping her more with the customer service because her baby needs care.

With this new loan, she will purchase dairy products, soft drinks, water, prepared juices, oils, disinfectants, etc. Her dream is to have her own house and have a large retail space for her store.
