Maratona Group's story

The Maratona group is formed by five people, all of whom live in the community of Mauá in São Paulo and have been clients of the Banco do Povo Crédito Solidário [People's Bank - Credit in Solidarity] for three years. Orlando is the group leader; he works as a tailor. His suppliers and customers are from the same area. He buys and sells products in the same place, thus increasing his working capital. The loan will be important to buy fabric, trimmings, thread and needles to make bags and backpacks. His ambition is to sell new products to increase the demand for sales at the end of the year. Through this resource he generates sustenance for his entire family. In the future he intends to buy a house, as he is currently paying rent.
Maria also works as a tailor. Vera has a hair salon and lives by herself. Eliana sells cleaning products and cosmetics, and Joelia sells lingerie and eggs from home. With Kiva's support, the entire group will benefit, generating more work and improvement for all.
