Estrellitas Del Rejon Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy corn at the wholesale level and to invest in her tortilla shop.

Estrellitas Del Rejon Group's story

Fulgencia is the president of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Estrellitas del Rejon” in the department/state of Chimaltenango. She is 53 years old and completed the fourth grade in adult school. Fulgencia is married with nine children over the age of eleven. She has given each of them an education and most have completed high school. Her youngest son is in the fifth grade.

Fulgencia makes soap and natural medicines. To make extra income, she sells delicious fresh tortillas two times daily. She is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy corn at the wholesale level and to invest in her tortilla shop.

The seven ladies in the Trust Bank have different businesses from farming (squash, peas, berries) to the sale of clothing and women’s sandals. Others have tortilla shops or food carts making french fries. Their monthly educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education, and healthcare services, are essential to their success as businesswomen (planning, budgeting, investing), mothers (health, nutrition, hygiene) and women (women’s bodies, roles, and rights). These trainings are designed by a facilitator who uses pictures, diagrams, games, and role playing to share the information. The women are eager to learn and to be successful.

Kiva investors, partnering with Friendship Bridge, are a tremendous help to these ladies. Thank you to each of you!
