María Carmen's story
María Carmen P. D. F. is 40 years old. She lives in Santa Tecla, in the La Libertad district, with her husband and her five young children. Her business is making and selling tortillas, which she runs from the Santa Tecla market. Every day at noon, she makes the tortillas, and distributes them with the help of her children, who drop off the number ordered at stands in the market. Her business has been stable, and she has been able to help her husband with household expenses. Maria requests a loan to buy corn (her raw material) as well as additional cylinders of propane.
