A loan helped to restock chicks and feed.

Merchant Green Group's story

Residing in Zengeza, Chitungwiza is a 38-year–old widow named Christina who has over the past years proven that hard work and sheer determination can yield positive results. She is a proud mother of two children who are all still attending school.

She runs a poultry business, and she is keeping batches of 100 chickens. But her fowl run has a holding capacity of 150 birds. She is responsible for all the day-to-day running of the poultry business, as she takes care of the day-old chicks up to 6 weeks before selling them to her loyal customers. Through entrepreneurship she has been able to provide for her family.

She formed a group together with her friends, which they named Merchant Green. Their businesses have grown, and they are not looking back. Christina used her allocated share of their recent loan to restock chicks and feeds. The other members of her group are Margret, who is also a widow, and Clara. Margret sells dried grains and foods, while Clara is into poultry.
