Grace's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to purchase a biodigester to improve her farm with sustainable technology.

Grace's story

Grace is a farmer who lives in Kariuki, Kenya together with her six family members, including children. She keeps six dairy cows and the money earned from the farm is the main source of income to support her family.

She is currently spending a lot of money on wood, LP gas and charcoal meant for cooking and heating bathwater. With her twenty cubic meters Sistema.bio digester, Grace will be able to process the abundant cattle manure on her farm to produce biogas to replace propane. The biodigester will transform the animal waste into methane-rich biogas (clean and renewable energy) and potent organic fertilizer (biol).
As a result, she will not only use the biogas to cook and heat bathwater for her family, but also use the biofertilizer from the biodigester to increase yields on corn, forage and vegetables crops.

By using this biofertilizer, she will no longer have to resort to expensive, petroleum-based agrochemical fertilizers. This will in turn help her save her farm's costs and time; and therefore enable her to purchase more cows and improve her farm with sustainable technology.

This loan represents 74% of the total cost of the biodigester; the remaining part is paid directly by Grace.
