Philani Group's story

Blessing believes that as time goes on she will become one of the most successful business women in her village. She is a 31 year old mother of three children, two of which are going to school. Her husband is employed at a local company.

Blessing felt the need to assist her husband to meet household expenses hence she started a business of selling groceries. She now has six years operating her business.

She has done well for her village people as this village is not easily accessible due to bad roads. Blessing has a grocery shop at the village shopping center. She employed one person who helps her with grocery selling.

Though her strongest business is grocery shop, Blessing also rears poultry. She keeps batches of 75 birds at a time. Her fowl run has the capacity of 100 birds.

Blessing is a member of Philani Group which has three business women who stay in the same village. To further supply all basic commodities to her customers, Blessing got her share from a combined group loan which she used to restock more grocery items.
