A loan helped to restock her chicks.

North Drive Group's story

Precious is a lady aged 47, who lives in Chinhoyi. She is a hardworking mother, currently with one dependent who looks up to her. Precious’ husband is a lecturer at a local polytechnic.

Precious runs a poultry business, which she started a year ago as a way of supplementing her husband’s salary, but it is now a big and successful business. Precious supplies her chickens to a local supermarket and some butcheries. She started off at 50 birds, but due to high demand and a wide market, she was able to move to 200 birds.

Precious and three other ladies from her area decided to form a group and named their group North Drive. North Drive group got training and a loan, and Precious used her portion to restock her chicks to give her two batches per month. She says this keeps a constant line of supply to her customers and hence increases her profits. In addition to running her business, Precious is an administrator at a preschool in Chinhoyi.
