Artesanas Santa Catarina Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to resupply her business buying jewelry, personal care products, toys, and glassware.

Artesanas Santa Catarina Group's story

Seven Maya Kaqchikel ladies, who live on the shores of Lake Atitlan in the state of Solola, have joined together to participate in the “Microcredit Plus” program of Friendship Bridge that includes loan support, monthly educational training and healthcare services.

Their Trust Bank is called “Artesanas Santa Catarina". The women are anxious to inject capital into their small businesses selling tortillas, traditional textiles, personal care products, jewelry, and glassware.

They are beginning their eighth Kiva loan cycle.

Blanca, a married mother of three children (3-9 years), is a member of the group who earns income selling sundries like toys, jewelry, glassware and personal care products. Her income supports the household including the education of the children. This is a busy time of the year in her town with the approaching holidays and graduations. Blanca is requesting a loan to resupply her business buying jewelry, personal care products, toys, and glassware.

Blanca and her friends look forward to their monthly meetings when they make loan payments and then participate in educational training that gives them much needed information about their businesses (planning, budgeting, investing, savings), their families (health, nutrition, hygiene) and themselves (women’s rights and roles, women’s bodies, self esteem).

These women are very grateful for the willingness of Kiva investors to fund their loans. Thank-you to each of you!
