A loan helped to expand her business by buying dried fish in bulk to meet market demand.
Kachana's story
Kachana is a 28-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her three siblings in Sioma district in Zambia. Kachena sells scones and dried fish at her local market.
Kachana is requesting a Kiva loan to expand her business by buying dried fish in bulk to meet market demands. She plans to use the profit she earns to re-invest in her business and support her siblings by paying school fees for them. Kachana will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering 3 hours per week as a CAMFED Business Mentor, leading sessions to teach less experienced local women how to become successful entrepreneurs by developing their business acumen and sharing the lessons she learned from operating her business.
