Janiz's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more crates of soda, boxes of juice, water and more new shoes.

Janiz's story

Janiz is 17 years old and lives in the town of Kisasi in the Kireka region of Uganda. For the past 2 years, Janiz has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells soft drinks and shoes.

To help expand her business, Janiz has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more crates of soda, boxes of juice, water and more new shoes for resale.

This will help Janiz to generate greater profits so she can pay back the loan on time and save some money for future use.

Janiz hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build a bigger house for her family.

Janiz is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
