Robert's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped my art gallery provide a broader selection of locally made handcrafted items to the local community.
I have been a lifelong resident of the Bay Area, and I dedicated my career to the arts in 2000. Before that, I earned a BA at UC Berkeley and then invested 12 years in my family’s retail business in New York City. Those years ingrained in me how important it is as both a small business owner and an employee to be committed to the needs and interests of the community and of other employees. I began my own art practice while still in New York in 1993, and I earned an MFA in sculpture in 2007 once I had returned to the Bay Area. Since then I have been devoted to supporting other independent artists. I started the Abrams Claghorn Gallery in 2015 because I believe that platforms for artists’ work and voices improve not only the arts community, but the surrounding community as a whole. Today, I want to grow this small corner shop into an institution that has a significant positive impact on the arts community and on everyone involved in the business. I do not want this to be a business that just scrapes by; I want it to continue to grow so that the employees and artists who support it can grow professionally and personally as well.
