A loan helped to buy more cocoa to sell.

Kirumya 11 Catholic Church Kwelunganiya Group's story

Teddy, 36, lives in Bundibugyo, Uganda. She is married and charged with the responsibility to take care of her four children. Her business is cocoa farming and trading, which she has done for 16 years. She also sells palm oil and rice to supplement her income.

She got involved in the cocoa business to raise income to support her family, but cocoa price fluctuations do affect her expected earnings negatively. She has a family dream of educating her children despite the challenges of unpredictable weather affecting the cocoa business.

Teddy, whose hand is raised in the photo, is requesting a loan to buy more cocoa to sell in the coming season. She is a member of Kirumya 11 Catholic Church Kwelunganiya Group, in which members guarantee each other to get Kiva loans.
