Candy Group's story
We can do it", is the motto of the Candy group which is based in Chitungwiza. The group consists of three business ladies. Shylin started her business two years ago with only twenty-five birds. Currently, she keeps batches of 50 birds each spaced two or three weeks apart. Her fowl run has a capacity of 100 birds. Shylin ensures that her birds get enough feeds and proper sunlight as well as enough heat during the evening. Apart from rearing broilers, she also keeps free range birds albeit in a different fowl run as they need different conditions to grow. She has 50 of these birds plus 15 eggs ready to hatch. Shylin also sells sanitizers which she restocks from South Africa through sending a friend. Her husband is self-employed. The couple has 5 children with 3 of them going to school. Shylin used her portion of the loan to grow her poultry business further. She bought 100 birds, feeds and all the required medicines.
