San Miguel Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to reforest pine forests to harvest resin.

San Miguel Group's story

Emanuel, Faustino, Epigmenio and Jacinto are part of a group of co-owners from the indigenous community of Pomacuaran in Michoacán, México.

Emanuel, in his role as the president of the council of communal goods, has worked arduously with a group of people with the end of motivating and teaching about the importance of recovering the land which was logged and forgotten years ago. They achieved this by planing resin pines. Although they have already begun the work, unfortunately they do not have the resources to pay the expenses which will allow them to carry out their goal. The trees require care for at least 10 years to be able to begin collecting and selling the resin.

Emanuel is a great booster of the pine reforestation in his community and, although they face great economic challenges, they have the hope of being able to receive, through Kiva, the support they need to continue driving this project. This will allow them, in addition to caring for the environment, to prevent the migration of workers and to boost the village's economy.
