Jane's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy high-quality fertilizer and certified seeds to improve her farm, boost her production, and improve her income level.

Jane's story

Africa is one of the poorest countries in the world where people struggle to meet their basic needs. However, women like Jane (pictured above) are on the front line in making the world a better place. Jane is a hardworking mother. Jane has dairy cows and a small garden on her farm. She is an active woman who partakes in agribusiness activities, a skill that she inherited from her parents. In addition to engaging in some small business activities, Jane has been a very hardworking mixed farmer. Through these activities, she has been able to earn a decent and honest income. Because of the passion she has for farming, she has even nicknamed her cows.

Jane requested a loan from Juhudi Kilimo for 60,000 KES, which she will use to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer and seeds to enable her to grow more vegetables, reap maximum profits, and increase her business. Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Kakamega, is very challenging, but Jane feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like herself. She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, but her biggest dreams are to become independent and support her family by herself, secure her children’s future, and buy a home.

Jane kindly asks the Kiva community for empowerment and support with a heart full of gratitude.
