Bintu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more gallons of palm oil to increase her business.

Bintu's story

Meet 45-year-old Bintu from Waterloo 2 branch. She is married with 4 children between the ages of 3 and 24 years old. Three of them are currently attending school.

Bintu runs a palm oil business. Palm oil is red in color and is the corner stone of Sierra Leonean cuisine. It is used as the base for spicy stews. Good quality oil is said to be high in antioxidants and the oil is usually sold in yellow plastic cans. Borrowers like Bintu save money when they buy their oil in bulk.

She has been in this business for the past 10 years now and work 9 hours per day and 6 days a week. Her other source of income is from husband. Bintu says her business is doing well without any challenges.

Bintu has requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more gallons of palm oil to increase her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help her to educate her children and take care of her family. In the next 5 years she wants to improve and expand her business. She says thank you to the BRAC and Kiva communities for their support.
