Primar's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy butter, salt, sugar, and wheat flour for baking.

Primar's story

Primar is 17 years old and lives in the town of Apac, in the Lira region of Uganda. For the past 2 years, Primar has been working hard to manage her bakery, where she bakes and sells bread.

To expand her business, Primar requested a loan of UGX 1,200,000 from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy butter, salt, sugar, and wheat flour for baking, and will help Primar to generate greater profits. With an expanded business and more profits, Primar will be able to support her family, thereby improving their standards of living.

Primar hopes that, in the future, she will be able to buy cows and goats for rearing.

Primar is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
