Atuhigye's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to gain access to cost efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Atuhigye's Group's story

This season is not the first one that Atuhigye is working alongside One Acre Fund. She has been a member for a few years now, having joined the program in 2014 and, although she is the only person featured in the above picture, she is actually representing her group of 11 farmers in Kilolo South District, Tanzania.

Atuhigye is often described by her community as a very experienced farmer. She decided to be the one to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. Like many of her fellow farmers, Atuhigye decided to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds and hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to send her children to school.

This loan will not only help Atuhigye but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 10.5 acres of land. Additionally, some of the farmers in the group will be purchasing a solar light so, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of four solar lights.
