Basma's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to support her children by expanding her beauty salon.

Basma's story

Basma, 45, is an ambitious and determined Jordanian single mother of 5. She is the main breadwinner for the family.

Due to increased burdens and subpar living conditions, Basma rented a store and started a beauty salon using her humble cosmetics skills and experience as a hairdresser.

In the beginning, Basma faced some challenges. Her parents opposed the idea of her starting a business; they didn't believe that she would be able to manage both her household and business. She also faced a problem of attracting more customers.

Basma has asked for a 1,000 JOD loan from Kiva field partner Microfund for Women to buy cosmetics and assets for her beauty salon.

Basma dreams of giving her children a decent education and running a huge cosmetics center because there's a demand for such a project in the area where she lives. She also aspires to become a famous independent woman.
