Soka's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to pay for a solar water pump.

Soka's story

Soka, 58, is a farmer in Chipata, Zambia. She is asking for a loan so that she can obtain a solar water pump that will help her irrigate and expand her garden.

Last year, Soka used buckets to draw water from a nearby stream and irrigate her crops of tomatoes, maize and fresh greens. She used the profits from this to buy inputs for field crops. This year she is hoping to expand her garden, and increase her profits, while reducing the labor and cost required to provide irrigation

Rent to Own will deliver a solar water pump directly to her farm. Rent to Own also provides Soka with training on how to properly use and maintain the solar water pump, and will check in to provide support until she has paid off the loan.

With the water pump, Soka is planning on growing more tomatoes and other crops throughout the dry season, supplying markets in Chipata District.
