Del Futuro Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a showcase window along with rice, beans, coffee, eggs, sugar and soap.

Del Futuro Group's story

“Del Futuro” is the name that 7 ladies who live in the department/state of Solola have given to their Friendship Bridge Trust Bank. They are determined business women and have traditional clothing businesses, bakeries and convenience stores. These women are keenly aware of the value of a good education and work hard to set aside funds for their children’s schooling.

Maria, a 37-year-old married mother of 4 children (12-17), is proud because each of her children go to school. Maria only had 1 year of formal education but this has not stopped her from successfully running her convenience store. She needs to stock her shelves with more inventory and offer new items. So, Maria is requesting her 1st Kiva loan to buy a showcase window along with rice, beans, coffee, eggs, sugar and soap.

On a monthly basis, a Facilitator from Friendship Bridge meets with the ladies to share information about themselves (women’s rights, women’s roles), health, family (nutrition, hygiene) and business (planning, budgeting, investing, savings). Maria shares, “As Treasurer of the group, I need to learn about finances. In this way, I can be a better administrator of my store and keep track of the household expenses.”

It would be impossible for these women to walk into a bank to secure a loan. Kiva investors are highly appreciated by these ladies.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for believing in Maria and her friends and funding their loans!
