A loan helped to buy a fishing net for her fishing business.

Neipua's story

Neipua is 52 years old and a mother of nine children and seven grandchildren. Her husband is a fisherman and he's helping Neipua in their financial matters in their family. Two of their children currently attend school.

Neipua had her loan from SPBD and used it to buy a fishing net and more mulberry for making tapa. She also used the loan to buy some iron to repair her house's roof that was damaged by the cyclone.

Last February, Tonga was struck by a very strong cyclone named Gita and it affected most of the Tongan people's lives. It affected Neipua's roof and also her mulberry that she grows for raw materials for her business.

Neipua faces challenges in her business if the weather is not good for fishing and also how she communicate with the customers. She continues working hard in her business in order to achieve her dream of increasing her business to generate more income to renovate their house and also to educate her children for a better future.
