Mele's story

Mele is 60 years old,she's a widow with nine children and five grandchildren. Only two of her children are currently attending school. Mele is still responsible for raising her children and also her grandchildren, Besides, she's running her business of weaving to help her gain some income for her family. Her business is located at her home and she hired two women to help with weaving. Mele asked for a loan from SPBD to use it to buy some more pandanus for her business, and also renovate their house to recover from the cyclone.
Last February one of the strongest cyclones on record hit Tonga and affected most of peoples lives. Cyclone Gita damaged Mele's washing machine and also the roof and the kitchen. She's working hard in her business and sell products to get money to help her family. Her vision is to increase her business in the future, and also to renovate their house, and educate her children for a better future.
