Odette's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped a refugee to buy more food for her shop.
In 2013, Odette fled from the Congo with her children after increased violence and conflict in their home district. With 8 children, all of whom are in school, it was critical for Odette to begin generating an income for her family again. She quickly invested what little savings she brought with them from the Congo into a small shop selling mostly food and basic household items. More than four years later, Odette's business has grown into a huge shop and is one of the largest in the refugee camp. Odette's shop sells food, small hardware and kitchen items, soap, and offers mobile money services. Together with her husband, their businesses, and the support of UNHCR, Odette is able to support her children's school, clothes, and shoes. Her shop often runs low on food items though, as many of the refugee entrepreneurs do their grocery shopping at Odette's shop. This loan will help Odette add more food items to her shop, so she can continue to help nourish the community, and her family.
