Guadalupe's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a solar energy home system to have a healthier energy source and improve their well-being.

Guadalupe's Group's story

Guadalupe is a farmer working together near the village of Guahuachique in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. He works on local farms growing corn. The profit from the sale of the corn is what he uses to feed his family and he earns just enough money to send his children to school.

Because of the long working hours that he has, he often returns home after dark and therefore needs to light polluting, diesel-fueled lamps in order to help his family complete the household tasks for the day. Only once that has been done the children can dedicate their time to their homework, although they struggle in the dim light of the lamps, which they have to turn out after a short while to conserve the costly fuel. Upon finding out about the sustainable and inexpensive possibility of installing solar energy systems in their home, Guadalupe decided to purchase a cleaner, longer-lasting source of light for his family's home.

With your help he will be able to pay back the cost of the system using the money that he would normally be wasting on diesel fuel, with an aim to one day own their own electricity supply. This means his kids will be able to study for many more hours each night, and the family will be able to use those funds previously spent on fuel, to make long overdue home improvements.
