Jackline's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient rich fertilizers to improve the quality of her farm produce and increase her income as a single mother.

Jackline's story

Life failures have never deterred Jackline from aiming for the highest. She is a single mother and a self-reliant woman who always focuses on success. Jackline was raised in a family that lived in extreme poverty and she did not have the opportunity to advance her education.

However, this did not kill her dream of wanting to succeed in life. Jackline’s determination to persist without giving up hope is her main weapon in fighting poverty. She works hard to meet the demands of her small family and her farm requirements. Jackline, has been working on her farm for more than five years. Through farming, Jackline is able to meet the basic needs of her family.

Access to modern, quality farm inputs is a pillar of agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in inputs availability.

Jackline is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient rich fertilizers to improve the quality of her farm produce and increase her income. To others, it might just be a mere loan, but to Jackline it is the biggest opportunity she will have this season for changing her life.
