Palmis Eneji Sa's story

Palmis Enèji received its first loan from Kiva in May 2015. The social business enjoyed significant growth in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, Palmis Enèji reached 5000 households with quality and efficient products such as gas cookstoves, solar lanterns and improved biomass stoves. In total, Palmis Enèji has reached 36,000 households since its inception, in 2013. In April 2018, Palmis Enèji conducted a satisfaction survey amongst its gas cookstoves beneficiaries, who are women at 86%. It showed that 95% of the respondents where satisfied with the product and 96% were using it everyday. In 2017, for the first time, Palmis Eneji sold the majority of its solar lanterns in rural areas, where grid is miles away. Palmis Eneji expects to sharply scale-up its activities in 2019 by entering rural areas in the South and North of the country. Palmis Enèji has signed partnership with different agriculture cooperatives and self-help group in order to disseminate solar lanterns and improved cookstoves to their members. In order to support the growth, Palmis Enèji will have to import more products, to deploy two new branches in rural areas and to increase its social marketing efforts toward the poorest. It is therefore requesting a new loan of 100,000 USD to meet customer demand.
