Pilar And Bernardo's story

My name is Pilar Rigon and I’m Chef and Co-Owner of Mille Nonne. Born and raised in Italy, I lived between Rome, Veneto, and Tuscany before moving to New York City. I was introduced to the magic world of cooking by my mom, a great cook that taught me secret family recipes and brought me with her to food markets since the age of 5. When I arrived in New York I had a hand-written recipes book, little money, and big dreams. Fighting to make them happen I became the owner of several restaurants, discovering the ups and downs of the industry. Living in this sparkling city and even finding myself lactose-intolerant brought me to develop my own personal touch for cooking. After I met my husband Bernardo, also Italian, now my business partner, we came out with a new formula. It is based on selected delicious Italian dishes, amazing care for quality, taste for what’s next in terms of sustainability and an obsession for creating happiness. That’s what we’re proposing now with Mille Nonne. We believe that in making it through this tough time we will be able not only to improve our life but to have a positive impact on the casual food industry of the city.
