A loan helped to expand her business by purchasing more grocery items.

Haggai Azumah's story

Haggai is a 22-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her five siblings in the Bawku West in Ghana. She runs her own business selling groceries. With her first Kiva loan, Haggai increased the size and range of her stock. She used the profit she earned to support her family’s basic needs.

Haggai is now requesting a second loan to expand her business by purchasing more grocery items. She plans to use the profit she earns to further her education and support her family's basic needs.

Haggai will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering two and half hours per week as a Camfed Peer Educator, leading life skills sessions for students in local schools on topics such as rights and choices, choosing a career path and active citizenship.
