Jean De Dieu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more vegetables for his food stall.

Jean De Dieu's story

Jean de Dieu came to Rwanda as a refugee with his family in early 2016. Back in his home country, Jean de Dieu ran a boutique business selling basic items like pens, papers, and toothbrushes in Burundi's capital city. He ran that business for eight years before he was forced to leave, and last year he started a similar business in Rwanda.

Jean de Dieu started his business with less than $10 selling tomatoes on the side of the road in the camp. Now, he has his own shop space and sells several different types of vegetables. Jean de Dieu is also a recognized leader in the camp community, holding the presidential secretary position in the camp.

Together with his wife (who is a tailor in the camp), Jean de Dieu supports his four children's food, home, and education costs through his business income. This loan will help Jean de Dieu grow his business with new vegetables, and continue to pay for his children's school fees.
