Prisila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy seeds and start horticultural farming, using the profits to improve her living conditions and secure her children's future.

Prisila's story

Prisila is 50 years old and lives in the Kerugoya area of Kenya. She is a rural, smallholder farmer, and an assiduous mother who earned her knowledge in farming from her parents. She is determined to pass on this knowledge to her village counterparts in the Kerugoya area of Kenya.

Through experience based on curiosity and her natural abilities, Prisila has emerged as one of the most respected farmers in her village. She is a competent farmer who has been rearing dairy animals and growing different varieties of crops.

Prisila has requested a loan from Juhudi Kilimo for KES 60,000, which she will use to buy seeds to start horticulture farming.

She wants to take advantage of various conditions to reap more profits, such as favorable weather patterns, a good road network in her village, good soil, and a ready market for horticulture products. By the end of the first year, Prisila hopes that she will not only be selling in the local market, but also in international markets through the export of fruits and vegetables.

Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva and Kiva lenders to help hard-working women, like Prisila, turn their farming dreams into reality, through training and loan financing.
