Houma's Group's story

The banc villageois that this six member group is part of was established in January 1998. It is made up of woman who are very involved in developing businesses that generate earnings. All the members of the group live in the same neighborhood and maintain their relationship as good neighbors. The majority of them have great experience with the banc villageois system.

Houma (standing at the far right with her hand raised) is the group representative. She is a widow and the mother of four children. She makes a living selling sheets, curtains, millet and peanut butter.

With her new loan she will buy 15 sheets, 17 drapes, four 50 kg bags of millet and 50 kg of peanuts. She will process the peanuts into peanut butter and sell retail in 20 kg pails. Her merchandise is renewable.

With her earnings she plans of taking care of her children and raise animals to sell in case of need.
