Emmah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm supplies such as seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to increase her production and meet the increasing demand for food in the market.

Emmah's story

A smile is the greatest weapon that Emmah uses to fight her fears. She is a mother of lovely children and is a rural smallholder farmer from the Thika area of Kenya. Emmah (pictured in her simple house) is married to a fellow farmer.

Her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm. However, they are also involved in other agricultural activities such as growing bananas, vegetables, fruits, and grains.

Unlike most microfinances in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures in funds acquisition thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention movement of funds in the rural communities has increased thereby alleviating rural poverty.

Emmah is seeking a loan to buy farm supplies such as seeds and rich-nutrients fertilizers.

Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm supplies. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve her family's quality of life.

She also hopes to improve the conditions of her house.

Emmah, her husband, and children highly rely on the goodwill of the lenders so that they can achieve their dreams.
