Jorge's story

I was Born and raise in a town in the center of the island, Cayey, Puerto Rico. Since little I was always a fan of sports; Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball and I had a dream, that someday, contribute to the development of the sports not only in my hometown but in all my country. In my town, the sports are the main attraction, maybe the only source of fun for the residents. All of this influenced me to create Sport Marketing Promoters (SMP). The Sports always have been my passion so I decided to include as a slogan of SMP the following phrase: “Making sports passion a reality”. I make a Bachelor in Communications and a Postgraduate studies in Marketing. I have more than 20 years in work experience as a Licensed Public Relationist. I still living in my hometown Cayey, PR, I have a 14 year old boy, the one that in his free time, work with me in SMP and I married 20 years ago with Ivonne Arriaga, who is a high school teacher and a professional actress from Theater, Movies and TV. The experience lived during the game series of Montreal Expos in San Juan, Puerto Rico, motivated me to think about sports, more than a competition, could become in a big spectacle focused in the fan having a life experience, since entering to the stadium, this from the commercial way. However, from the human way, facilitates the access to sports to childrens and teenager, this was another reason, a priority, to create Sport Marketing Promoter. A goal to SMP is to develop a Sport Center this leaded to promote sports, not just the traditional one but the non traditional sports too and habilitating an abandoned local, either a school or an old factory in disuse.
