Mariam's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy an ice cream machine for her family's ice cream business to earn more income.

Mariam's story

Mariam is aged 33 years. She is the mother of two children and is living in Lahore, Pakistan. She is standing with her husband. Her husband owns an ice cream shop in the market. Nowadays, as the summer season is going to start in Pakistan, his customer’s demands for ice cream increase.

To cope with the increasing demands of customers he wants to purchase basic raw material for ice cream making, such as cream, condensed milk, butterfat, sugar, flavorings, cocoa powder, nuts, cookie pieces, and cookie dough. But he does not have a sufficient amount to open an additional business of ice cream making.

He also wants to purchase an ice cream making machine for the business. In this regard, he has to pay the charges of the ice cream making machine but he does not have enough to cover the cost of an ice cream making machine.

Therefore, Mariam requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan, so that her husband would be able to buy an ice cream machine for his shop. Mariam hopes that lenders will support her and that this loan will prove productive for her husband's business as well.

She is very thankful to Kiva and Kiva's field partner BRAC Pakistan.
