Oliva's Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy more food items like green bananas, rice, and maize flour for her restaurant.

Oliva's Group's story

Oliva's group is composed of two hardworking women. Oliva is 19 years old and lives in the town of Kyengera in the Buwama region of Uganda. For the past three years, Oliva has been working hard to manage her restaurant, where she sells cooked food like green bananas, rice, meat, chicken, beans, and yams.

To help expand her business, Oliva has requested a share of 1,600,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more food items like green bananas, rice, and maize flour, and will help Oliva to generate greater profits.

More profits from a booming business will enable Oliva to afford more basic needs of life, thereby improving her standard of living.

Oliva hopes that in the future, she will be able to open up a bigger restaurant.

Oliva is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
