A loan helped to restock sheets and bedding.

Shumba Group's story

Yeukai is a committed 51-year-old cross-border trader. A member of the Shumba group, Yeukai goes to Mozambique to sell sheets, fleece, curtains and comforters, restocking from local manufacturers in Zimbabwe. She has customers back home in Zimbabwe who order commodities from Mozambique; she sells to them when she returns. Her business is mainly based in Mozambique, and she spends most of her time there.

Yeukai is a kind-hearted widow living in Budiriro and takes good care of two beautiful children. She makes sure that her children go to school and wants them to attain the education she never had a chance to have.

Yeukai and the other group members attended financial training at Thrive Microfinance, learning how to manage their businesses in a tough environment through proper loan use. The group is currently on their sixth loan.

Yeukai's business has grown, and she used her loan to restock sheets and bedding so that she can keep supplying her customers. She believes that as long as she remains devoted to growing her business, she will achieve her goals.
