Miriam Dorina's story
Miriam is 30 years old and is a single mother. She has two children and they live together in the city of Yoro, Yoro, Honduras. For the past 18 years she has worked selling natural medicines for everyday use such as Llantén (plantain seeds), pericón (traditional Mexican herb similar to anise), (manzanilla) chamomile, Rábano Yodado (iodine radish), piedra pómez (pumice stone) etc. Her business is located inside her home. Previously she worked as a homemaker. She wants to invest in her business and is asking for a second loan from Kiva's field partner of 25,000 lempiras (Honduran currency) in order to buy natural medicines such as plantain seeds, a traditional Mexican herb similar to anise, chamomile, iodine radish, and pumice stone. This will help her to supply her business and offer her customers a variety of products and thereby help her obtain a better income. Her goal is to continue investing in the business and give her children a better education.
